Path Residence

Modern Warmth on the Coast of Amagansett

MADERA's smoked European oak cabinetry and ceiling planks create a cohesive, light-filled kitchen with natural warmth throughout.

Tucked within the coastal landscape of Amagansett, New York, the Path Residence is a study in calm precision and understated warmth. Designed by Kristin Nelson of Nelson Collective in collaboration with London Architecture and Design, the home balances modern restraint with natural material richness.

For MADERA, this project presented an opportunity to explore the full potential of Seamless Wood Design®  in a highly detailed residential context. Through the use of Finch 606, a smoked European Oak finished in natural oxidized oil, MADERA helped create a residence defined by continuity, harmony, and timeless simplicity.

From the beginning, Nelson Collective’s intent was clear: to design a space that felt minimal yet warm, unified yet textured. MADERA’s ability to supply all wood elements—flooring, doors, ceilings, and millwork—from a single, precisely finished source made this vision possible.

Finch 606 was chosen for its soft matte sheen and subtle grain, complemented by light brushing and filled natural knots. The oak’s smoked tone introduces depth and movement, allowing light to play gently across the surfaces throughout the day. This continuity created a unified architectural language, one that connects rooms through texture and tone rather than ornamentation.

Executing such a refined palette required precision down to the smallest detail. Every surface had to align both visually and technically, with exact color and texture consistency across different substrates. MADERA’s fabrication team produced thirty-seven custom doors for the home, each engineered to match the flooring and wall finishes with absolute accuracy.

This level of precision embodies the philosophy of Seamless Wood Design®: a system that integrates every element of the home into one coherent material expression. The result is a sense of seamless flow where boundaries between architecture and craft disappear, replaced by quiet cohesion and natural balance.

Throughout the home, the material palette remains intentionally simple. Wood and plaster define the main spaces, while the bathrooms introduce additional materials without breaking the home’s sense of unity. The oak continues across cabinetry, doors, and window detailing, ensuring every surface contributes to a shared material identity.

Kristin Nelson reflected that MADERA’s Whole House Seamless Wood Design® approach aligned perfectly with the project’s vision, allowing for a fully integrated design experience. The result is an environment that feels timeless, inviting, and effortlessly consistent—a home where the architecture and material speak the same language.

The Path Residence demonstrates the power of thoughtful collaboration and the elegance of material restraint. Through MADERA’s Seamless Wood Design® system, every plane and junction achieves a sense of visual and tactile unity. The project stands as a testament to the belief that when architecture, craftsmanship, and natural material work in concert, the result is not just a home—but a complete sensory experience.
